Jean Prouvé hat den Herstellungsprozess seiner Möbel nie verschleiert. So wurden Schweißnähte nicht verschliffen, und die Konstruktion folgte überwiegend statischen Überlegungen. Inspiriert durch diesen Ansatz, habe ich versucht bei der Formgebung der Leuchten den Herstellungsprozess zu erzählen und nicht wie in der industriellen Fertigung üblich zu kaschieren. X Y and Z ist eine Leuchtenserie mit Verbindungen, die auf der simplen Methode des Quetschens beruhen. Das Quetschen ist hierbei nicht nur eine Konstruktionslösung, sondern ein narratives Gestaltungselement. Die Lampenschirme sind über ein flexibles Magnetkugelgelenk mit rechtwinklig gebogenen Stahlrohr-Stativen verbunden. Der grüne Hammerschlaglack ist eine Hommage an die Werkzeuge, die an dem Herstellungsprozess beteiligt waren.

Jean Prouvé never disguised the production process of his furniture. Weld seems were thus not smoothed off and the construction mainly responded to static considerations. Inspired by this approach, I tried to give an account of the production process through the design of the lamps instead of trying to obscure the process as it is common in industrial manufacturing. X Y and Z is a lighting series with joints that are connected through the simple method of crimping. The crimping does not only serve as a construction solution, but also constitutes a narrative feature of design. The shades are connected to right angle steel tube stands through a flexible magnetic ball-joint. The green hammer-effect varnish pays tribute to the tools that were used in the production process.
