Ich habe mich in letzter Zeit intensiv mit dem Design des Stahlrohrmöbels zwischen 1920–1940 befasst. Mit dem Split Chair wollte ich die klassische Rohrbiegekonstruktion auf der Basis heutiger Technologien weiterentwickeln. Durch den Brückenschlag zwischen traditionellem Rohrbiegen und neuester 3D-Lasertechnologie, wurde eine neuartige Konstruktion möglich, die materialeffizient und selbsterklärend ist.

During the last couple of months I have intensively studied the design of steel-tube furniture between 1920 to 1940. With the Split Chair, I intend to develop further the classic tube bending construction on the basis of today’s technology. Through the bridging of traditional tube bending with newest 3D laser-technology, a new construction, which is material efficient and self-evident, became feasible.
